Na Young-seok's New tvN Variety Show 'Just Human Friends' to Premiere Nov. 27

Yulia·November 4, 2026·3 min read

tvN will launch its new variety program "Just Human Friends" (그냥사람친구) on Nov. 27, the network announced. The show comes from the team behind producer Na Young-seok, with Na and fellow producer Shin Geon-jun of production company Egg Is Coming handling direction, according to Yonhap News.

The cast is built around pairs of celebrities whose friendships have lasted for decades. Actors Lee Seo-jin and Han Ji-min, friends for 20 years, appear together, while veteran actors Kim Yong-geon and Park Jung-soo bring a friendship of 55 years. Monsta X member Jooheon and Twice member Jeongyeon, who have known each other for 10 years, round out the lineup.

Why it matters

Na Young-seok is one of Korean television's most recognizable variety producers, and a new show carrying his name draws attention well before it airs. The premise here is deliberately low-key: rather than manufactured situations, the program is built on real, long-standing relationships between people who already know each other well.

That framing places the emphasis on natural conversation and chemistry instead of format-driven twists. For tvN, the show adds a character-driven title to its variety slate ahead of the year-end schedule.

A trip built on decades of friendship

The central device, as described in reports, is a friendship journey. Korean entertainment outlets covering the announcement highlighted the combined years of friendship among the cast, with iMBC Entertainment describing the participants as embarking on a trip together. News1 similarly framed the Kim Yong-geon and Park Jung-soo pairing around their 55-year bond.

The mix of generations is notable. Lee Seo-jin and Han Ji-min are familiar faces from drama and entertainment programming, while Kim Yong-geon and Park Jung-soo are established senior actors. Jooheon and Jeongyeon represent the idol side of the lineup, and their decade-long acquaintance gives the show a younger pairing alongside the older ones.

Reports also offered a glimpse of the show's tone. Maeil Business Newspaper described a moment in which Han Ji-min points out a sunset to Lee Seo-jin, her friend of 20 years, and receives no response — a small, unremarkable exchange that fits the program's apparent interest in ordinary interaction rather than dramatic set pieces.

What the reporting does and does not say

The announcement coverage focused on the premiere date, the cast pairings, the length of their friendships and the production team. Details such as the number of episodes, the travel destinations, the broadcast time slot and the specific format of each episode were not included in the reports reviewed.

Yonhap News also carried an unrelated item in the same broadcast-news roundup concerning a historical drama set in 1258 Goryeo, written by Jung Hyun-min and directed by Jung Dae-yoon, which will also be released through Amazon Prime Video. That project is separate from "Just Human Friends" and is not connected to the tvN variety show.

Viewers can expect the first episode of "Just Human Friends" on tvN on Nov. 27, with further scheduling details likely to be confirmed by the network closer to launch.
